The new Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 reached a record 375 km/h at the German oval test track in Papenburg.
Apparently, Chevrolet was too modest when they previously announced the performance data of the new and most powerful edition of the two-seater Corvette, which is hidden behind the ZR1 label and will be available in two body versions (Coupé and Convertible) from next year.
The latest testing on the 12.23-kilometer German oval track in Papenburg showed that the new \’Vette ZR1, whose mid-mounted 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine develops 1,064 hp at 7,000 rpm and 1,123 Nm of maximum torque that only goes to rear axle, instead of the declared 346 it reaches 375 km/h. More than enough for General Motors to announce that they have the fastest American production car to date.
Behind the steering wheel of the completely serial red example that reached 375 km/h in the Top Speed program was GM President Mark Reuss, and he was accompanied by engineer Chris Barber (head of the Corvette ZR1 development department), who after all said that the calmness and stability of the car made him feel like he was sharing the cabin with Reuss, who was driving on the highway at a slightly faster pace.
New Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Price
The price of the fastest American production car so far (which reaches 100 km/h in less than three seconds) has not yet been announced, but it is expected that the ZR1 in the best equipped version will cost around 200,000 euros.
