The new racing version of the Peugeot 208 “has seen the light of day” and is intended for everyone who wants to enter the world of motorsport without too much investment.
It is a Peugeot 208 Racing, which is based on a renewed model, which is prepared for the FR6 Trophy series. It is a new racing series that starts in 2025 as part of the French Rally Cup, and is organized by the French Automobile Federation.
Stellantis, owned by the Peugeot company, was the first to join the FR6 Trophy.
The car has white steel rims and green details on the daytime running lights. The body is decorated with a livery, which will attract eyes on the track.
The interior features a roll cage and an automatic fire protection system, and the dashboard has been modified to reduce glare. The multifunctional screen offers the information the driver needs, but he also has a kill switch button and some custom controls on the center console.
under the hood is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine, which now develops 156 hp, and the car weighs a total of 1,050 kilograms. Engine power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Peugeot 208 Racing will use Superethanol-E85 fuel, which reduces CO2 emissions by around 30 percent compared to standard fuel. Also, on the mentioned rims are Michelin Pilot Sport PS5 tires.
Stellantis Motorsport engineers have optimized the suspension and braking system based on feedback received from professional racers.
The price of the 208 Racing model is 38,900 euros without tax, and Stellantis is already accepting orders. Deliveries are expected to begin in February 2025.
