One of Ferrari’s most successful cars, and also one of the last car driven by the legendary Michael Schumacher, will be sold at RM Sotheby’s auction.

The car was driven in 2006, i.e. in the last season of Schumacher in the Ferrari team. It is a Ferrari 248 F1 car, the fifth of a total of eight cars produced for that year.

As for the races, he made his debut in the fourth race of the season, which was driven at Imola, and Schumacher took pole position in qualifying and then went on to win. It was his first triumph in 2006.

At the next race at the Nürburgring, Schumacher qualified second, but a smart pit strategy allowed him to take the win. Then, driving this car, he was second in Spain, Great Britain and Canada, while in the United States he achieved pole position and another victory. He also celebrated in France, and the car was retired after the race in Hungary.

The last time Michael drove it was at Ferrari’s celebration at the Finali Mondiali at the end of the season in Monza.

RM Sotheby’s states that this car was purchased by Ferrari from a private collector in December 2007 and has remained in the same collection until today.

It has a Ferrari Classice certificate and was used in several private tests at the Fiorano circuit. Also exhibited at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles in 2017 as part of the exhibition “Seeing Red: 70 Years of Ferrari.”

It is estimated that the new buyer will have to fork out more than 10 million euros for the Ferrari 248 F1.
